What are the conditions that make the best work possible?
After living in a few places in Portugal, I was looking for something I wasn't sure even existed.
I had spent a season in Ericeira, sharing a house with three world-class founders. We weren't in a program. We shared a place near the ocean and talked over dinner about what we were each working on. The work I did on my branding for Fundit that season was more than I could have done by myself. Because of who was around me, and where we were. When we each went our own way, it inspired me to find such a place.
I found the place, and we created Três Bandeiras. It's a place where the environment and the people around you do more of the work than you'd think. The Atlantic, nature, an active healthy life: not a backdrop, but conditions. And the body isn't separate from the work, when nature, rhythm, and real connection are designed in, the quality of thinking changes.
There's one more quest I'm starting to explore. As founders, we tend to work by ourselves, and mostly from the mind. Retreats taught us tools for accessing other parts of ourselves: the heart, intuition, other states of being. Business masterminds taught us the power of shared knowledge, a common goal, and a network of likeminded peers. I want to combine both these traditions for creating, by ourselves and amplified in a shared field. That's Sacred Work Lab.
If you're researching, building, or actively thinking about what the right environment does to the quality of working and living, I'd like to hear from you.
